The Golden Gophers were defeated 4-0 by the Maryland Terrapins Friday at Baseline Tennis Center.
Minneapolis, MN. – The University of Minnesota tennis program (5-12 overall, 0-6 Big Ten) fell 4-0 to Maryland (14-3 overall, 3-1 Big Ten) at Baseline Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
Maryland grabbed a 1-0 lead in the match after the Terrapins' Minorka Miranda and Marta Perez conquered a back-and-forth tiebreaker win over Minnesota's pairing of Zoey Weil and Anet Koskel 7(7)-6(3), in the first position.Â
In singles play, Maryland earned a point at the sixth position as Minnesota did not have enough competitors to field the position. No. 5 Sofia Pizzoni lost 0-6, 2-6 to Maryland's Hannah McColgen to claim the final point of the match.Â
