99 career points as a Gopher
MINNEAPOLIS - Following his four-year career with the Golden Gophers men's hockey team, Jackson LaCombe signed his first professional contract, a two-year, entry-level deal with the Anaheim Ducks Monday.
Â
A second-round pick (39th overall) of the Ducks back in 2019, LaCombe served as an alternate captain this season and posted a career-best 35 points with nine goals and 26 assists, leading Minnesota to a NCAA runner-up finish. The senior made 140 appearances over four years and ranks tied for 13th in program history for points by a defenseman with 99 and is 12th for assists totaling 80.
Â
The Eden Prairie, Minn., native was named to the 2023 NCAA Fargo Regional All-Tournament Team after posting three points and helped the Maroon and Gold to its second-straight NCAA Frozen Four appearance. LaCombe and the Gophers reached the NCAA Tournament three times in his career to go with back-to-back regular season Big Ten Conference titles and a B1G Tournament championship in 2021.
Â
LaCombe was the fourth-highest scoring blue liner in the NCAA this year and recorded eight games with multiple points. He was consistent all season long, recording points in 25 of 37 games played for Minnesota, including five goals over his final 15 outings.
Â
He was a nominee for the 2023 Hobey Baker Memorial Award and a Second Team All-American for the Gophers in 2020-21. LaCombe earned a spot on the All-B1G Second Team each of the last two years and was a First Team All-B1G selection as a sophomore.
