Pease's eight strikeout performance lead Minnesota over Ohio State 7-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Fifth year senior Autumn Pease had everything working on Friday, fanning eight Ohio State hitters over seven innings of work to help propel the Minnesota Golden Gophers past the Buckeyes 7-1.

In addition to her eight strikeouts, Pease (22-6) went seven innings, giving up one run on seven hits and walking none for Minnesota (31-16, 12-6 Big Ten).

Senior Natalie DenHartog led the way offensively for the Golden Gophers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double, a home run and two RBI. Sophomore Kayla Chavez put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Senior Sydney Strelow also helped out, going 1-for-3 for Minnesota with a home run and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Minnesota plated two runs when Strelow left the yard with sophomore Taylor Krapf aboard.

The Golden Gophers then held the Buckeyes scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Minnesota scored twice on back-to-back home runs from freshman Jess Oakland and DenHartog, which brought the Golden Gophers lead to 4-0.

Minnesota held Ohio State scoreless before building their lead to 5-0 in the sixth inning. The Golden Gophers added a run on DenHartog's RBI double.

Minnesota held the Buckeyes scoreless before their offense got things moving the next inning. The Golden Gophers scored twice on Chavez's two-run homer, bringing the Minnesota advantage to 7-0. Ohio State put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Golden Gophers still coasted to the 7-1 win.
