The “U” Signs Recruit to 2023-24 Signing Class

Mia Liepert joins Minnesota's roster for the upcoming season.
MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota tennis program has officially signed new recruit, Mia Liepert to the 2023-24 freshmen signing class.
Liepert, a native of Bludenz, Austria, adds to the program's long list of international players to be a Golden Gopher. Following her graduation from Handelsakademie high school in Bludenz, Austria, Liepert will be a strong asset both academically and athletically to the Maroon and Gold roster.
Liepert began playing tennis at the age of six and throughout her International Tennis Federation (ITF) juniors career, was a two-time ITF J5 singles winner in Ghana, ITF J4 singles winner, ITF J5 doubles winner in Ghana, ITF J4 doubles winner in Germany, ITF J3 doubles winner in South Africa and ITF J3 doubles winner in Austria.
"On the court, I hope to improve my tennis, work hard and I am super excited to win many matches with the team," Liepert said. "In the classroom, I want to give my best so I can achieve all my academic goals."
Aside from academic and athletics, the Austria local enjoys spending time with her friends and baking. Mia is the youngest daughter of Thomas and Bettina Liepert, and has one older sister, Lea. The soon-to-be freshman is undecided on a major, but is interested in business.
