Gophers Continue to Create Memories at Target Field

6/28/2023 11:06:00 AM | Men's Basketball

The University of Minnesota men's basketball team was in full force Tuesday night at the 37th-annual Create a Memory Event at Target Field. The entire Gopher men's basketball team was in attendance in downtown Minneapolis. Approximately 500 children from 10 social service agencies participated in the event.

After being introduced individually to attendees, the Gophers assisted at various stations, including running the bases, wiffleball, baseball clinic, radar toss, kickball, softball and home run derby. Attendees also got the chance to take a tour of Target Field, gain autographs as well as receiving a t-shirt and had a pizza and ice cream party.

Create A Memory program started 36 years ago with a simple idea of providing children, typically ages 7-13, from local Minneapolis/St. Paul youth service agencies the opportunity to play ball at major sports facilities. Create a Memory began with an idea that gave community children something special that every child would love to do. Create A Memory was held at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome from 1989 to 2009 and the tradition continued at Target Field since it was built in 2010.
