She comes in as a transfer from Pittsburgh

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Gophers gymnastics team has added transfer Anahit Assadourian to their 2023-24 roster, head coach Jenny Hansen announced. She will have four years of eligibility remaining beginning next season.

Assadourian was at the University of Pittsburgh last year, but redshirted and did not compete.

"After meeting the coaches, team and staff I just knew they only had my best interest at heart and it instantly felt like home," Assadourian said. "I loved everything about Minnesota and I felt it was a very positive and happy environment to be a part of!"

The all-around gymnast made the EAGL All-Scholastic Team at Pitt in 2022-23. She intends to major in studio arts at Minnesota.

A Burbank, Calif., native, she competed for The Klub Gymnastics during her high school years. Assadourian was a participant of the European Youth Olympic Festival in 2017 and the European Championships in 2018. She made the World Championships in 2019 as a part of the Armenian National Team, which she competed for from 2017-19.

The Gophers' gymnastics program is excited to welcome Anahit, her mother, Lusine Tumanian, father, Vahe Assadourian, and sister, Arpine, to the Minnesota family.
