'U' Sends 18 to 2023 NHL Development Camps

MINNEAPOLIS - A total of 18 past, present and future Golden Gopher men's hockey players recently participated in NHL development camps.

Thirteen from that group are set to be in Minnesota's lineup for the 2023-24 campaign after being in development camp this summer. That total also includes the three most recent draft picks from the 2023 class, Beckett Hendrickson, Luke Mittelstadt and Oliver Moore that joined their respective NHL teams for the first time.

Four former Gophers took part in NHL camps, three of which made their professional debuts a season ago. Brock Faber and Sammy Walker are with the hometown Minnesota Wild, while Jackson LaCombe is out west skating with the Anaheim Ducks. Fresh off signing his first pro contract, Ryan Johnson spent camp with the Buffalo Sabres as a first-round pick of the organization back in 2019.
