MINNEAPOLIS – A pair of former Minnesota wrestlers are set to compete Friday night at Bellator 298 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The main event features No. 1 Logan Storley (14-2) against No. 7 Brennan Ward (17-6) in a welterweight bout.
Storley was a four-time All-American at Minnesota from 2011-15. He finished his career with an overall record 119-27, including a 47-7 mark in duals and 27-3 record in Big Ten matchups. He claimed third place at the NCAA Championships as a junior, fourth as both a sophomore and senior and sixth as a freshman.
In the prelims, Michael Blockhus will make his professional debut in mixed martial arts with a featherweight bout against Eli Mefford (0-4).
Blockhus wrapped up his Gophers career back in March when he finished eighth place at the NCAA Championships to earn his first career All-America honors. He went 21-8 in his redshirt senior season as the Gophers' starter at 149 pounds. After transferring from Northern Iowa after his redshirt freshman season, he finished his Minnesota career with a 47-31 record and three trips to NCAAs.
Since their collegiate careers, Storley and Blockhus both train with Kill Cliff Fight Club out of Deerfield Beach, Fla.
The prelims start at 5:30 p.m. CT on Bellator's YouTube channel, while the main card is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. CT on Showtime.
