Four Gophers Set to Begin Play at 123rd U.S. Women's Amateur Championship

Carpenter, Curran, Furtney, and McCauley will travel to compete at the Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif.

Emma Carpenter, Grace Curran, Megan Furtney, and Isabella McCauley are all set to play in the 123rd U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in Los Angeles, California. The tournament, hosted at the Bel-Air Country Club begins on Aug. 7 and finishes on Aug. 13. With four golfers playing at this event, the University of Minnesota is the college with the most active college athletes competing.

HOW THEY GOT HERE:
Emma Carpenter and Grace Curran both played their qualifying tournament at Indian Hills Country Club on June 26. Carpenter finished the tournament on top shooting a one-under-par 70 which solidified her bid. She was followed closely by Curran in third who penciled in a 72 (+1).

Megan Furtney and Isabella McCauley competed together in a qualifying tournament at Burl Oaks Golf Club on July 18. McCauley continued her dominant play from the spring and won the tournament with an even 72. Furtney finished just two spots behind her, carding a four-over-par 76, which secured her spot in the Championship.

THE TOURNAMENT:
156 golfers from 32 different states and 17 different countries will all travel to compete in L.A. at the 123rd U.S. Women's Amateur Championship. The seven-day tournament begins with two days of 18-hole stroke play between Aug. 7-8. The top 64 players will then advance to match play until a winner is crowned in a 36-hole match on Sunday, Aug. 13. The champion of the tournament receives a gold medal and the Robert Cox Trophy, exemption from 2024 U.S. Women's Open qualifying, exemption from qualifying for the next 10 U.S. Women's Amateurs, an invite to the 2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur, and potential exemptions into the Chevron Championship, AIG Women's British Open and Amundi Evian Championship.

THE COURSE:
The Par 70, 6,187-yard Bel-Air Country Club located in west Los Angeles has hosted many notable events including the 2004 U.S. Senior Amateur. This is the first time the club has hosted a U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.

TEE TIMES AND LIVE COVERAGE:
Carpenter tees off at 9:05 AM CT, McCauley at 2:20 PM CT, Curran at 2:36 PM CT, and Furtney at 3:39 PM CT. Live television coverage begins Wednesday, Aug. 9, and will run each day until Aug.13 on The Golf Channel.
