Trio of Gophers Earn Preseason Conference Honors

Pedersen, Warian, and Winter receive preseason Big Ten Honors
MINNEAPOLIS - Graduate seniors Jacob Pedersen and Brock Winter, along with senior Ben Warian, have been named to the 2023-24 Big Ten Golfers to Watch List, the conference announced earlier this week.
Pedersen, a second-year graduate student, posted 21 rounds across eight tournaments and two top-20 finishes during the 2022-23 season.
After transferring from North Dakota State, Winter enters his first season with Minnesota. He accumulated numerous achievements in his time with the Bison, including being a two-time All-Summit League First Team ('22, '23) and three-time Summit League Golfer of the Week ('22 (2), '23(1)). Winter also finished his time at North Dakota State sixth all-time in single-season scoring average (74.75; '20-'21).
After serving as team captain last year, Warian enters his senior season looking to repeat his record-setting success from a year ago. His impressive season included setting the all-time single-season scoring record (70.69), a record previously set by James McClain (70.89) 24 years ago. Warian also led the team in top-10 and top-20 finishes in the 2022-23 campaign.
The Golden Gophers begin the season Sept. 10-11 when they host the Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Maple Plain, Minn.
