MINNEAPOLIS – Student-Athletes on the University of Minnesota soccer team are proud to announce their partnership with Darryl "The Hammer" Isaacs of Isaacs & Isaacs Personal Injury Lawyers as part of a landmark Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deal.
Though he is an attorney, Darryl Isaacs is no stranger to the world of sports, sharing commercial time with famous faces like Brian Bosworth and producing Super Bowl ads that have been collectively viewed more than 25 million times online. He knew instantly that a partnership with the three-time Big Ten champions was the right decision.
"Ever since the Supreme Court decision in 2021, student athletes have control of their own name, image, and likeness," said Derek Burns, president of Dinkytown Athletes, the official NIL Collective of Gopher Athletics. "This partnership will bring tremendous visibility to the team as well as Darryl, and we hope it jump-starts continued support for women's sports."
"This is truly a groundbreaking opportunity for the soccer program at the University of Minnesota," said Jeremiah Carter, Sr. Associate Athletics Director for NIL at the University of Minnesota. "These student-athletes will be tremendous ambassadors for Isaacs & Isaacs and we believe that it will lead the way for others in the business community to see how student-athlete NIL, done the right way, can benefit both the student-athlete and the company to bring added visibility to their brand."
In addition to being the largest single NIL opportunity for student-athletes in a women's sport at Minnesota, it is also the first-ever, team-wide deal for any team at the University.
"As an attorney, I know how much I rely on my entire legal team for a victory in court," Isaacs said. "It's no different in soccer. Individual players score goals and make saves, but it's the team that wins games."
Burns isn't surprised that Isaacs embraced the first-of-its-kind deal for the team.
"Darryl understands the value of supporting talent at a crucial point in their professional development, but he also understands the immense value in hiring athletes to promote your brand," Burns said.
Fans of the Golden Gophers and Darryl Isaacs can expect to see them appearing together in branded content soon.
