Gophers Finish Day One of the Windon Memorial

MINNEAPOLIS - Ben Warian leads the Gopher men's golf team after 36 holes at the Windon Memorial Monday at Sunset Ridge Country Club in Northfield, Ill.
Warian took home a 2-under 69 in round one, and a 4-under 67 in round two, placing him in a tie for 12th place.
The Gophers sit in ninth place overall after the first day with a team score of 12-under par (282-274–556).
Big Ten rival Purdue (269-268–537) leads the tournament at 31-under par after 36 holes. East Tennessee State sits seven shots back of the Boilermakers, while host-Northwestern (271-275–546) and Big Ten foe Indiana (277-269–546) are just two shots back of the Buccaneers to tie for third.
Indiana's Drew Salyers and Purdue's Herman Sekne are both tied for the 36-hole lead at 10-under par.
Notable:
Warian started his second round at 5-under par after his first nine holes. His impressive first day was capped off by tallying nine birdies through his first two rounds.
Graduate transfer Brock Winter notched six birdies through his first 36 holes. He sits in a tie for 24th, with a score of 4-under par (70-68–138).
Junior Bennett Swavely tallied an eagle for the Gophers Monday, doing so on the par-5 13th during his second round. Swavely stands with a 3-under score through 36 holes (70-69–139), placing him in a tie for 29th.
Graduate Jacob Pedersen is currently in a tie for 58th, with a score of 1-over par (73-70–143), while sophomore Mason Roloff sits in a tie for 79th with a score to par of 5-over (74-73–147).
