FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
1.
After two straight road contests, Minnesota (2-2, 1-1 B1G) returns home to close out its non-conference schedule when it hosts Louisiana (3-1, 0-1 Sun Belt). The Gophers' Homecoming contest kicks off at 11 a.m. on Big Ten Network.

2. All-time, Minnesota is 60-40-3 in its Homecoming Games. Minnesota is looking to snap a two-game losing streak on Homecoming, falling last year to Purdue, 20-10, and in 2021 to Bowling Green, 14-10. Previously, the Gophers had won five of their previous six Homecoming contests. The Golden Gophers have never faced the Ragin' Cajuns on Homecoming. It'll be the seventh time that Minnesota plays a non-conference opponent for Homecoming, going 5-1 in those previous contests. Minnesota's most frequent Homecoming opponent is Northwestern, sporting a 9-8-2 record in 19 games with the Wildcats. The Gophers' 10 victories over Iowa are their most against one opponent. A full list of games can be found on Page 11 of the game notes.

3. Minnesota is 2-0 at home this season and has won four of its past five at Huntington Bank Stadium. The Gophers are looking to win their first three home contests of the year for the second season in a row and third time in seven seasons under P.J. Fleck, also doing so in 2018 and 2019.

4. Darius Taylor has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the third straight week after a standout performance at Northwestern. A true freshman, Taylor had 216 all-purpose yards at Northwestern as he rushed for 198 yards and had 18 yards receiving. His 216 all-purpose yards came in his fourth career game and ranks 44th in school history. It was his second game this season with more than 200 all-purpose yards as he also had 206 against Eastern Michigan. He is the first Gopher ever to receive the honor three straight weeks and the second ever to be honored three times in a season, joining Shannon Brooks who was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week three times in 2015. Taylor is the first Big Ten student-athlete to receive the honor three straight weeks since Wisconsin's running back Jonathan Taylor in 2017. Taylor leads the country in rushing yards per game (133.0) and is tops in the Big Ten in rushing yards (532) and attempts (87) and is tied for sixth in the Big Ten in rushing yards per carry (6.1 ypc) and touchdowns (4).

5. The 2023 campaign is the seventh for head coach P.J. Fleck at Minnesota, where his record is 46-29. He is fifth in program history for overall wins and Big Ten wins (27) and sixth in games coached (75). Fleck's .613 win percentage is third best among the Minnesota coaches with at least 45 games under their helm behind only Henry L. Williams (.786, 1900-21) and Bernie Bierman (.716, 1932-41, '45-50). In his 11th season overall as a college head coach, Fleck is 76-51 (.598).
