Maroon and Gold Take 10th at Windon Memorial

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota men's golf team finished its final round on Tuesday of the Windon Memorial at Sunset Ridge Country Club in Northfield, Ill. 

The Gophers claimed 10th place overall with a combined tournament score of 9-under par (282-274-287–887). Big Ten rival Purdue took home the team title with a score of 34-under par (269-268-277–814). 

Purdue's own Herman Senke nabbed the top individual spot, carding a 54-hole score of 16-under par. 

Notable: 
Senior Ben Warian led the Gophers for a second straight tournament. Warian was one of three individuals to record an eagle on a par-4, doing so in the final round on the 10th hole. The junior finished tied for 14th place with a score of 6-under par (69-67-71–207). 

Graduate transfer Brock Winter led the entire field in pars collected throughout the 54-hole tournament with 42. Winter finished in a tie for 34th with a score of 2-under par (70-68-73–211). 

Graduate Jacob Pedersen was one of two Gophers to record an eagle in their final round, scoring a three on the par-5 13th hole. Pedersen finished one shot back of Winter, ending in a tie for 41st with a score of 1-under par (73-70-69–212).

Junior Bennett Swavely finished one shot behind Pedersen, ending in a tie for 45th (70-69-74–213). Sophomore Mason Roloff finished with a 54-hole score of 11-over par, placing him in a tie for 81st. 

Looking Ahead: 
The Gophers will travel to Johnson, Ark., to compete in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. The three-day tournament begins Monday, October, 2nd, and runs through Wednesday, October, 4th at Blessings Golf Club.
