McCauley Leads, Gophers in Third after Day One of the Boilermaker Classic

Sophomore Isabella McCauley penciled in a two round score of nine-under par
WEST LAFAYETTE, In. - The University of Minnesota women's golf team completed 36 holes of competition today at the Boilermaker Classic. The Gophers were led by Sophomore and current tournament leader Isabella McCauley, who carded a 67 (-5) in round one and a 68 (-4) in round two. A well-fought and consistent day on the course has the team in third, shooting two even-par rounds of 288.
Purdue University currently leads the tournament with a two-round score of 296-270=566 (-10).

"What a day for Bella and the Gophers. 36 holes is always a grind while also walking over 16 miles and being at the course for 12 hours, so I'm really proud of how the team handled themselves" said head coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "We had great energy and used the momentum to propel us to an even par score thru 36 holes. Really looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow."
Notable:
Sophomore Isabella McCauley started hot and stayed hot, shooting a two-round total of 135 (-9). She finished the day in first with a three-stroke lead.
Senior Hailey Loh made her Gopher debut today, carding a one-over-par 73 in both rounds. This score has her in a tie for 19th heading into tomorrow's final round.
Freshman Sara Tomaszewski also made her debut in the Maroon & Gold today in West Lafayette. Tomaszewski (T32), notched seven birdies and 19 pars, shooting 77-72=149 (+5).
The third new Gopher in the lineup, Megan Furtney, showed her consistency between rounds today. Her score of 76-75=151 (+7) has her tied for 45th.
Graduate Emma Carpenter penciled in a two-round score of 153 (+9) today. She finished tied for 53rd with two birdies and 26 pars throughout the day.
Grace Curran, competing as an individual, shot a two-day score of 76-77=153 (+9) and is sitting alongside teammate Carpenter in a tie for 53rd.
