The senior is ranked No. 3 in the NCAA in the weight throw.

MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota track and field senior Shelby Frank has been honored by the Big Ten as the Field Athlete of the Week for the first time this season, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Frank's Big Ten honor is the seventh of her career and fifth indoor weekly recognition for the senior. The Grand Forks, N.D., native set the top mark in the conference this weekend in the weight throw to win the Jack Johnson Classic at 23.36m (76-7 3/4). The throw came on her fourth attempt of the competition while her other three marks all went beyond 22-meters. The defending national runner-up now sits at No. 3 in the NCAA in the weight throw this season and still is No. 2 in school history only behind NCAA champion Kaitlyn Long, who's 24.37m (79-11 1/2) came in 2018.

Minnesota's next time on the track will be a split weekend with student-athletes competing at both the Gopher Classic in Minneapolis as well as at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. Both meets will start on Feb. 3.
