Perich Named MVP of All-American Game

Esko, Minn., native is ranked the No. 1 player in the state and the No. 3 safety in the nation

University of Minnesota signee Koi Perich was named MVP of the 2024 All-American Bowl today. 

The Esko, Minn., native recorded one interception, broke up two passes, blocked and recovered one punt and also had a tackle for loss as he helped lead the West to a 31-28 victory in the annual showcase game. 

Perich, who signed with Minnesota on December 20, 2023, is a consensus four-star recruit. He was ranked as the No. 1 prospect in Minnesota by On3, 247Sports and ESPN and No. 3 safety in the nation by On3, which also listed him as the No. 53 overall recruit in the country.

Perich attends Esko High School in Esko, Minn., and wore No. 3 for the Eskomos. He was coached by Scott Arnston and played defense, offense and special teams in high school. He led his team to a 10-1 record and was responsible for 27 total touchdowns in the 10 games that he played in. 

Perich made 62 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, five interceptions, recovered two fumbles and forced one fumble while also scoring five defensive touchdowns. 

He rushed 61 times for 708 yards 16 touchdowns and also had six receptions for 80 yards and one score, while also throwing for one touchdown.

Perich had 12 total returns for 464 yards, while returning three punts for a touchdown and one kickoff for a touchdown. 

Perich, who also plays basketball and runs track, was named First-Team All-State by the AP. He won the 2022 Class A long jump state champion and also finished sixth in the triple jump.

Fellow Minnesota signees Brett Carroll and Riley Sunram also competed in the game.
