The rookie from Stillwater, Minn., posted a 9.825 on bars in her debut
MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota freshman Jordyn Lyden was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, the Big Ten announced.
Lyden, out of Stllwater, Minn., (Stillwater Area H.S.), made her debut in the Maroon and Gold, tallying a 9.825 on bars in her first collegeiate performance.
She helped the team post a 49.275 score for bars in the meet, which Minnesota (196.850) won over then No. 13 Oregon State, No. 24 Southern Utah and No. 31 BYU.
The Gophers come into this week ranked as the No. 6 team in the nation. They take on Eastern Michigan in the home opener, this Saturday, Jan. 13 at 4 p.m. on B1G+.
