Minnesota will have five home meets in 2025, including one at the Armory

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota gymnastics program has announced its 2025 schedule. Their upcoming slate features five home contests, two neutral site events and four away meets. All times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

Prior to the official start of the season, Minnesota will have an intrasquad competition at Maturi Pavilion on Friday, Dec. 20 at noon, which is free and open to the public.

"We are very excited about this year's schedule, especially with the addition of both Washington and UCLA to the B1G conference," said head coach Jenny Hansen. "Our fans will have a great opportunity to see a few new teams at Maturi Pavilion this year as well as get the opportunity to see our team compete off campus in the North Star Collegiate Championship."

Minnesota will start its season at Maturi Pavilion on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 4 p.m. against Central Michigan. They'll follow that up with their first road trip of the year at New Hampshire on Saturday, Jan. 11.

The Big Ten home opener will come on Saturday, Jan. 18 as the 'U' hosts the Penn State Nittany Lions at 4 p.m. Their conference road opener is slated for the next Sunday, Jan. 26 at Iowa.

Head coach Jenny Hansen and company will go back home for a contest on Saturday, Feb. 1 when new Big Ten addition Washington comes to town. The Gophers will then go back to the site of the 2024 Big Ten Championships when they travel to Michigan State, the reigning champs, on Saturday, Feb. 8.

The 'U' will stay on the road for a meet at Ohio State on Sunday, Feb. 16 to close out their conference road slate. The Nebraska Cornhuskers come to Minneapolis for a 4 p.m. meet on Saturday, Feb. 22 to close out head-to-head conference meet competition. After that, the Gophers head to the 'Big 4' meet at Maryland, where they'll compete against Illinois, Michigan and Maryland.

To further prepare for the postseason, the Gophers have two more non-conference meets. First, they'll host Illinois State on Saturday, March 8 at 4 p.m. for Senior Day. After that, they'll host the first ever North Star Collegiate Championship at the Minneapolis Armory on Saturday, March 15. Iowa, Pittsburgh and Centenary will be the opponents and the meet will begin at 4 p.m.

Postseason action will begin with the 2025 Big Ten Championships on Saturday, March 22, hosted by Michigan. NCAA Regionals will begin on April 2 while the NCAA Championships go from April 17-19 in Fort Worth, Texas. This year's regional sites are Salt Lake City, Utah (Utah), Seattle, Wash., (Washington), Tuscaloosa, Ala., (Alabama) and University Park, Pa. (Penn State).

Last year, Minnesota (20-11, 6-3 Big Ten) finished second at the Big Ten Championships and made the NCAA Regional Finals for the third time in the last four seasons. Their No. 12 final ranking was the highest finish of any Big Ten team. The Gophers were picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten Preseason Poll behind Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Iowa. The 'U' finished second at the 2024 Big Ten Championships with a score of 197.500, falling to Michigan State by just .100. It was the second-highest finish at the conference championships under Jenny Hansen.

Minnesota advanced to the Regional Finals for the third time in the last four seasons in 2024, one of just three Big Ten teams to do so. Their 197.400 score on Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark., placed them fourth in the region behind No. 2 LSU (198.250), No. 7 Arkansas (197.825) and No. 10 Kentucky (197.475).

Returning fifth year senior Mya Hooten was named a WCGA First Team All-American on both floor and vault for the first time in her career. She was named First Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Championships Team, taking home three individual titles at the Big Ten Championships. She also won an NCAA Regional Title on vault and advanced to nationals as an individual.

Four Gophers earned All-Big Ten honors last season, including the fourth for Mya Hooten (First Team) and second for Gianna Gerdes (First Team). Lauren Pearl and Ella Sirjord both made the second team for their first career All-B1G honors. Pearl returns in 2025 for her senior season while Gerdes and Sirjord graduated.

2024 Big Ten balance beam champion Sarah Moraw also returns for her third season in the Maroon and Gold.
