Gophers Tied for First After Day One of Ron Moore Intercollegiate

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – The University of Minnesota women's golf team is tied for first place after completing 18-holes of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate. The Gophers score of 280 (-8) puts them at the top of the leaderboard with host Denver.
Freshman Reese McCauley leads the team individually in solo first place after nabbing seven birdies in the final ten holes. She closed out round one with a 65 (-7), her lowest round as a competitive golfer. Junior Isabella McCauley finished in solo second, one stroke behind her sister, to card a 66 (-6).
"It was fun watching Reese's round today," said head Coach Matt Higgins. "Her and Bella were both dialed in and the putts were falling. Very fortunate to be in the position that we are in after day one."
Notable:
Reese McCauley carded eight birdies, the most out of the 81 player field. Isabella McCauley added six to her scorecard, closing the day with a bogey-free round.
Junior Mariana Mesones capped the day off tied for 18th after shooting a round one 71 (-1).
Junior Madison Le and sophomore Sara Tomaszewski each closed out day one with a six-over-par 78 and sit tied for 73rd place.

The second round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate will take place tomorrow, Oct. 5 with a 9:30 am CT waterfall start.
