MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota men's golf head coach Justin Smith announced that Joe Honsa (Mendota Heights, Minn.) and Torger Ohe (Edina, Minn.) have signed scholarship agreements and will join the Golden Gophers program in the 2025 season.

Honsa was a four-year member of the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders golf team led by head coach Bob Kinne. A three-time All-State and four-time All-Conference selection, he was the runner up at the 2023 Minnesota State AAA Tournament and captured the 2023 19th Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship. In 2024, Honsa placed second at the Minnesota State Junior PGA Tournament, qualified for the USGA Junior Amateur, and a National Junior PGA Qualifier.

"We are extremely excited to add Joe to our University and golf program at Minnesota." Smith said. "When we recruit the top Minnesota prospects each year, Joe is someone who epitomizes everything we look for with regards to skill level, character, commitment, academics, and the pride of his home state. Joe will be a tremendous addition in all areas of what defines a student-athlete and we are excited for his arrival next fall."

Ohe will join the Maroon and Gold after being a member of the Edina golf program for four seasons. During his time with the Hornets, he was a four-time All-Lake Conference member, along with being named to the All-State team three-consecutive years. Ohe led the Hornets to the 2023 and 2024 Lake Conference Championship, along with nabbing the 2024 Minnesota State AAA Individual and Team Championship. He also was the third-place finisher at the 2023 Minnesota State AAA Tournament, advanced to the 2023 USGA Junior Amateur Round of 16, and a 2022 USGA Junior Amatuer participant.

"Torger has been born and raised in the Maroon and Gold and we couldn't be more excited for his addition to our University and golf program." Smith said. "Torger is as well rounded of a prospect that we've ever recruited and I know that his passion, skill, toughness, and exceptional standards will allow him to excel at the collegiate level.  Torger has thrived on some of the biggest stages in junior golf and we are excited to help him continue to develop in all areas."
