WSU tied the game at 24-24 off a three-point play at 1:40 left and took a one-point lead with 1:04 remaining in the first and the eventual halftime score.
The Shockers jumped out to a 37-33 lead out of the break, but Minnesota fought back and tied the game at 39-39 off a Odukale drive through the paint. Tied again at 47-47, Minnesota would take a three-point lead at 54-50 off a Patterson three-pointer and a 55-50 lead off an Odukale free throw. WSU responded with back-to-back field goals to cut the Gopher lead to 55-54. Asuma made both his free throws as the Gophers held a 57-54 lead, however, Harlond scored a three-pointer with a second left on the clock to send into overtime.
Despite the Shockers having a 64-59 overtime lead, Minnesota chipped away and tied the game at 66-66. However, WSU's Justin Hill was fouled and sunk both free throws to win the game. Minnesota attempted a three to win it at the buzzer, but it clanked off the rim for the 68-66 Shocker win.
