MINNEAPOLIS - Redshirt-senior forward Abbey Murphy and freshman defender Chloe Primerano have each been named WCHA weekly award winners on Monday afternoon. Murphy and Primerano are the second pair of Gophers to earn conference honors this season, being recognized for stellar performances in last weekend's road sweep of St. Thomas.

Abbey Murphy earned WCHA Forward of the Week for the second time this season after tying her career-high eight series points (3g-5a) against the Tommies. Murphy tallied five points (2g-3a) in Friday's 5-0 victory, recording a point on each Gopher goal. She tallied 3 points (1g-2a) in Saturday's 6-2 win, capping off her prolific first half of the season. The Evergreen Park, Illinois native leads the Gophers in scoring the season, having notched 32 points (16-16a). She has recorded nine multi-point games this season, and has scored a point in 13 of the Gopher's 16 games this season. Murphy was previously named WCHA Forward of the Week on Nov. 18 after a five point (1g-4a) series against No. 4 Minnesota Duluth. She also was named to the Preseason All-WCHA Team prior to the start of the season.

Chloe Primerano earned the first conference weekly honor of her career, being named WCHA Defender of the Week after a career-high four point (2g-2a) series against St. Thomas. Primerano tallied one goal and one assist in each of Minnesota's victories last weekend, including her second career power play goal on Saturday. She also recorded a plus/minus of 4 throughout the series. The North Vancouver, British Columbia native has tallied 11 points (3g-8a) and a plus/minus of 7 in the first half of her first season in Maroon and Gold, ranking second among Gopher defenders in scoring. Primerano was previously named WCHA Preseason Rookie of the Year.
