Minnesota fell to No. 5/6 Washington and defeated Georgia Tech
CLEARWATER, Fla. --The Minnesota Golden Gophers had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the No. 5 Washington Huskies 12-4 despite the efforts of junior Taylor Krapf, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Senior Jacie Hambrick (0-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Minnesota (3-3).
Krapf led the way offensively for the Golden Gophers, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Breezy Burnett put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Sophomore Jess Oakland also helped out, going 2-for-4 for Minnesota with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Minnesota got on the board thanks to Burnett's RBI double with two outs.
The Golden Gophers lost the lead they built in the second, but got back on the board in the third trailing 5-1. Minnesota pushed across a run on Krapf's two-out RBI double, which tightened the Huskies lead to 5-2.
Washington built their lead to 7-2 before the Minnesota offense got back to work, reducing that lead to 7-4 in the fourth. CLEARWATER, Fla. --The Minnesota Golden Gophers picked up a win in walk-off fashion, rallying to score one in the bottom of the seventh after Georgia Tech tied it up in the top half, sealing the victory on a single off the bat of senior Sydney Strelow to beat the Yellow Jackets 12-11 Friday.
Senior Morgan DeBord led the way offensively for the Golden Gophers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and three RBI. Sophomore Jess Oakland put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Sophomore Addison Leschber also chipped in, going 3-for-4 for Minnesota with two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
