Oakland Homers Twice in Minnesota's 10-2 Victory Over Fordham

The Golden Gophers defeated the Rams in five, two Gophers hit multiple RBI home runs
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Sophomore Jess Oakland put together an outstanding performance at the plate Friday, hitting two homers to help propel the Minnesota Golden Gophers past the Fordham Rams 10-2.
Senior Bri Enter (4-3) got the win out of the bullpen for Minnesota (6-7). The right-hander went four shutout innings, giving up two hits, no walks and striking out four.
Oakland went 2-for-2 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with five RBIs. Junior Kayla Chavez added to Oakland's awesome power-hitting performance by going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI along with one walk. Senior Sydney Strelow also helped out for the Golden Gophers, going 1-for-2 with a home run, a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers were trailing 2-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Minnesota scored twice in the inning, including one on a solo shot from Strelow.
The score stayed at 2-2 until the very next inning, when the Golden Gophers put runs on the scoreboard once again. The Minnesota offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of Oakland, which brought the score to 6-2 in favor of the Golden Gophers.
Minnesota held Fordham scoreless before building their lead to 8-2 in the fourth inning. The Golden Gophers added two to their tally on Oakland's two-run homer to right.
Minnesota held the Rams scoreless before their offense got in gear the next inning. The Golden Gophers scored twice on Chavez's two-run homer, bringing the score to 10-2 in favor of Minnesota. The score remained 10-2 for the rest of the game, as the Golden Gophers coasted to the win.
