Seven Gophers Primed for NCAA Zone Diving Championships

MINNEAPOLIS - Seven University of Minnesota divers are set to compete at the 2024 Zone D Diving Championships in Houston, Texas.

The Zone Diving Championships will be held at the University of Houston Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium from March 11-13. Live stream and live results links can be found on GopherSports.com or at the Championship Central.

Competition begins on Monday at 11:45 a.m. CT with the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter prelims. Finals for the men's 3-meter will be at 1:45 p.m. CT, with the women's 1-meter to follow at 2:45 p.m. CT. The women will take to the 3-meter on Tuesday while the men will be on the 1-meter. The times on Tuesday will be the same as Monday.

Both the men and women will compete on the platform on Wednesday. Women's prelims will commence at 11:45 a.m. CT with finals at 1:45 p.m. The men's platform prelims will begin at 4:00 p.m. CT with finals at 5:30 p.m.

Over the three-day meet, all seven divers from Minnesota will attempt to secure their bids to the 2024 NCAA Championships on the 3-meter springboard, while six will take their chance on the 1-meter springboard and three on the platform.

The top five female and top four male divers from each event at the five respective zone diving championships will be eligible to compete at the NCAA championships. Additional place finishers in each event at each zone will be eligible based on the number of student-athletes from that zone who finished in the top 16 in that event at the previous year's contested or completed NCAA championships. All eligible divers must have achieved the zone qualifying score prior to the NCAA championships in all events in which they wish to participate.

For Zone D in 2024, 11 women will qualify on the 1-meter and nine will qualify on the  3-meter and platform. The men will have 10 on the 1-meter, nine on the 3-meter and seven on the platform.
