Winter Academic All-Big Ten Honors Awarded to 91 Gophers

MINNEAPOLIS – The Big Ten has awarded 91 University of Minnesota student-athletes with Academic All-Big Ten honors for the 2023-24 winter season, the conference announced Wednesday.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Seven programs at Minnesota were up for Academic All-Big Ten selections for the winter season with women's swimming and diving leading the way with 18 honorees. Sixteen student-athletes were recognized from both the men's swimming and diving program and wrestling team, along with 15 from men's hockey, 11 from gymnastics, eight from men's basketball and seven representing women's basketball.
In addition, six student-athletes recorded a GPA of 4.0: Gianna Gerdes (gymnastics), Jake Gliva (wrestling), Sarah Moraw (gymnastics), Rowan Morgan (wrestling), Desmon Sachtjen (men's swimming and diving) and Tim Stapleton (wrestling).
