MINNEAPOLIS -- A pair of future Gophers are set to compete at the 50th Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic Saturday night at AHN Arena in McMurray, Pa.

Minnesota signees Koy Hopke and Charlie Millard have both been assigned to the United States All-Star Team in a dual matchup with the Pennsylvania All-Stars. Ranked fifth in the country by FloWrestling, Hopke will compete at heavyweight against Sean Kinney, who is ranked seventh and headed to Lafayette to play football. Millard, meanwhile, is ranked third at 160 pounds and he will face No. 4 Conner Harer, a Rutgers signee.

The Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic features three different showcase duals starting with Ohio Girls All-Stars versus Pennsylvania Girls All-Starts. That'll be followed by New Jersey All-Stars against the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League All-Stars, while the event closes out with Team USA taking on Pennsylvania. The wrestling starts starts at 2 p.m., while Hopke and Millard's dual for Team USA is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. CT. FloWrestling.org will stream the event with a paid subscription.

A native of Amery, Wis., and Amery High School, Hopke ranked fourth overall on MatScouts' 2024 Big Board. He was also WIWrestle's top pound-for-pound wrestler in the state of Wisconsin. Hopke is a four-time Division II State Champion, winning three titles at 220 pounds before claiming the heavyweight crown as a senior. On the national scene, Hopke won the triple crown in 2021 as he was the 16U champion in folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman.

Millard hails from Mequon, Wis., and attends Homestead High School. Millard ranked 23rd on MatScouts' Big Board, sixth on the pound-for-pound rankings from WIWrestle and No. 1 at 165 pounds for WisconsinGrappler. He's a two-time state champion as he won as a senior at 157 pounds in Division I and as a junior at 160. As a freshman he placed fourth at 138 pounds, then moved up to 152 pounds as a sophomore and claimed second place.
