Three Gophers Selected for Women’s NCAA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota swimmers Megan Van Berkom, Eliot Kennedy and Katie McCarthy will represent the University of Minnesota at the 2024 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships, March 20-23, in Athens, Ga. it was announced Wednesday.
Van Berkom, who is competing in her fourth straight NCAA Championships, is scheduled to take part in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 fly.
Senior Eliot Kennedy and freshman Katie McCarthy will both be swimming in the 1650 freestyle.
The Golden Gophers will also have the opportunity to add more participants at this year's NCAAs after the NCAA Zone Diving Championships next Monday through Wednesday.
Van Berkom is coming off of the Big Ten Championship Meet where she was the champion in the 400 IM with a time of 4:06.71. The Chatham, Ill. native also placed second at the B1G Meet in the 200 fly (1:55.63) and third in the 200 IM (1:55.88).
Kennedy set a new personal record in the 1650 free at the Big Ten Championships. She finished in 16:11.50 to place ninth overall. McCarthy collected her personal record and 'B' cut at the Minnesota Invite where she finished in 16:11.89.
The University of Georgia will serve as the host of the 2024 NCAA Championships. The meet will be Wednesday, Mar. 20 through Saturday, Mar. 23. Wednesday's relay events will begin at 6:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. CT. All other days will begin with preliminary rounds at 10:00 a.m. ET/9:00 a.m. CT and finals at 6:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. CT.
