MINNEAPOLIS - Six current and former members of the University of Minnesota women's hockey team will compete for their respective countries at the 2024 IIHF Women's World Championships in Utica, N.Y. from April 3-14.

Current Gopher Abbey Murphy will don the Red, White and Blue with former teammates Grace Zumwinkle and Taylor Heise. Former Minnesota standout, Kelly Pannek, will also represent the United States at the championships.

Gopher sophomores Josefin Bouveng and Nelli Laitinen will head to Utica for the championships, representing their home countries of Sweden and Finland.

For Murphy and Heise, it is their third selection for the IIHF World Championship roster. Murphy helped the team to silver in 2021 and gold in 2023, while Heise skated to a silver for Team USA in 2022 and gold in 2023.

The 2024 IIHF World Championships will be the fourth time Zumwinkle has been given the nod. She was rostered on the 2020, 2021 and 2022 teams.

For Laitinen, this will be her fifth time competing with Team Finland at the championships. She helped Finland earn a silver medal in 2019 and bronze in 2021.
