The Golden Gophers fell to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 3-0
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Minnesota Golden Gophers were not able to notch a run against Rutgers pitcher Mattie Boyd on Friday despite recording six hits and were shut out 3-0 by the Scarlet Knights.
At the plate, the Golden Gophers were led by junior Kayla Chavez, who went 2-for-3 on the day. Chavez notched 150 career hits against the Scarlet Knights. Graduate pitcher Jacie Hambrick also had a day, pitching a complete game and tossing three strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Minnesota managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The Gophers last got a runner on third in the sixth, when freshman Lucy Hooper made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
