Minnesota Falls to Rutgers in Series Finale

Minnesota dropped game three, 6-1, to Rutgers
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota softball team fell to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon despite the efforts of junior Taylor Krapf, who went 2-for-3.
Senior Jacie Hambrick (5-7) started and took the loss in the circle for Minnesota (23-21, 9-8 B1G).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gophers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Minnesota got an RBI single from senior Morgan DeBord, scoring junior Nani Valencia from second base. The Gophers were unable to hold the lead, as Rutgers scored six times over the remaining five innings to grab the 6-1 win.
GAME NOTES
» Minnesota's highest scoring inning was the second, when it pushed one run across.
» Minnesota pitchers faced 33 Rutgers hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and eight fly balls while striking out three.
» Krapf led the Gophers at the plate, going 2-for-3.
