Minnesota to Face St. Louis in WNIT Championship

Game will be played at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and will be on CBS Sports Network

The University of Minnesota women's basketball team will face St. Louis in the WNIT Championship at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6. The game will be contested at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Ill.

The game will be broadcast on television on CBS Sports Network and on the radio on 96.7 KFAN+ and on iHeartRadio. 

Minnesota advanced to the championship game with a 74-69 road win against Troy on Wednesday. The Gophers have also beaten Pacific, North Dakota State and Wyoming in WNIT play this year. 

The Gophers, who are 2-0 all-time against St. Louis, are playing in the WNIT Championship for the first time. Minnesota's previous best finish in the WNIT was advancing to the Super 16. 

Minnesota's one previous postseason title came in 2012 when the Gophers won the WBI Tournament with wins against Charleston Southern, Bradley, Manhattan and Northern Iowa (championship game). 

Minnesota is 20-15 on the season and reached 20 wins for the 15th time in program history.
