Gophers to Host Nebraska for Final Big Ten Home Series

Nebraska comes to town for three games this weekend at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium

MINNEAPOLIS - The Golden Gopher softball team returns home for its final regular conference series Friday, Saturday, and Sunday against Nebraska. Friday and Saturday's games will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network with Sunday's game being streamed on B1G+.

Last Time Out 
- Minnesota fell to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Wednesday, 7-0 at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium
- Following the loss, the Gophers traveled to Iowa for its final regular season road test
- Minnesota swept the Hawkeyes, 3-0, improving its record to 12-8 in the Big Ten
- Thanks to the sweep, the Gophers now sit tied at third place with Rutgers, but sit behind Northwestern (1) and Michigan (2)

- Nebraska sits by themselves at fifth in the Big Ten, with a 10-8 conference record
- The Huskers lost the series to Northwestern last weekend, 0-2, with game three being canceled
- Nebraska outhit the Wildcats in game two, but the Huskers' two errors led to three unearned runs in Northwestern's favor
- Billie Andrews leads Nebraska, averaging 0.369 with 59 hits, 48 runs, 38 RBI, and 12 home runs

Series History
- This is the first meeting between Minnesota and Nebraska since 2022
- Last time they met, the Huskers swept Minnesota in Lincoln, 3-0
- The Gophers saw 14-straight wins from 2016 until 2021, when Nebraska picked up one game in the three-game series
- Of the last 18, Minnesota has won 14

Oakland by the Numbers
- Sophomore Jess Oakland earned her second conference weekly award this season on Tuesday
- Through four games, the shortstop went .500 with two home runs, three RBI, seven hits, and three doubles
- Oakland also ranks nationally in multiple categories including: batting average (0.455, sixth in the NCAA, first in the Big Ten), hits (71, eighth in the NCAA, first in the conference), and  home runs (19, sixth in the NCAA, first in the Big Ten)
- She has the second best batting average in a single season, the third most runs scored in a single season, and is tied at third for home runs in a single season
- Oakland has totaled 33 home runs in her career so far, she needs seven more to enter Minnesota's career top five

- They've had 83 this season and are averaging 1.73 per game

B1G Performances
- Against Iowa, first baseman Delanie Cox led Minnesota offensively
- Cox went 0.600, with three RBI and seven total bases
- Junior catcher Taylor Krapf had another big weekend against the Hawkeyes, recording three hits, three runs, two homer, and four RBI
- Krapf also hit two home runs against Iowa in game two, she last hit two against Illinois earlier this season

- Senior Jacie Hambrick had a weekend in the circle for the Gophers
- She secured a 1.00 ERA against Iowa, going 14.0 innings 
- Hambrick improved her record by three wins and pitched one complete game
