Zumwinkle Named PWHL Rookie of the Year

Forward Grace Zumwinkle earns inaugural top-rookie honors after a 19-point debut season with PWHL Minnesota.

SAINT PAUL - Golden Gopher Women's Hockey alum Grace Zumwinkle was named 2024 PWHL Rookie of the Year during the league's inaugural  awards on Tuesday. Zumwinkle also earned all-star second team and all-rookie team honors to cap off an impressive debut campaign. 

The forward from Excelsior, Minn., tallied 19 points with 11 goals and eight assists over 24 games with PWHL Minnesota. After being selected sixth overall in the 2023 PWHL Draft, Zumwinkle recorded the league's first hat trick in a 3-0 win over Montreal at the Xcel Energy Center on Jan. 6. 

The U.S. Olympian and two-time all-American is one-of-five players in program history to tally at least 100 goals and 100 assists. The two-time captain ranks inside the top eight in points (209 - 8th), goals (109 - 3rd), shots (826 - 1st), game-winning goals (22 - 3rd) and games-played (172 - 3rd) in Gopher history.
