This is the first time that two Gophers have been honored in the same year

MINNEAPOLIS - Jess Oakland and Taylor Krapf have been selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Teams, as announced by the publication on Tuesday.

Oakland received second team nods while Krapf landed herself a spot on the third team. With the honors, this is the first time that two Gophers have been awarded in the same year.

The 2024 Academic All-America Women's Softball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

With another addition to her list of awards, the Academic All-American honor caps off Oakland's sophomore season. The shortstop was recognized as the 2024 Big Ten Player of the year followed by NFCA Second Team All-American accolades. In addition, Oakland was named a Second Team All-American by D1 Softball and Softball America after receiving All-Big Ten First Team and All-Big Ten Defensive Team nods.

In her second year with Minnesota, Krapf made an impact for Minnesota on both sides of the ball. To conclude her junior season, the catcher achieved NFCA Great Lakes All-Region Second Team status and was named to the All-Big Ten First Team. She paced the Gophers, batting .311 with 11 home runs and 53 RBI. She hit multiple season records including two multi-home run games against NC State and Iowa.
