MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota soccer team strengthened its roster with the signing of graduate transfer Ally Childers, announced Monday by head coach Erin Chastain. Childers comes to Dinkytown after a four-year campaign at Michigan State.

"I chose the University of Minnesota soccer program because of the coaching staff, culture, and the opportunity to play with my younger sister, Kate," said Childers.

As a freshman with the Spartans, Childers appeared in six games, recorded two shots on goal, and played a season-high 22 minutes on the road against No. 23 Penn State.

During her sophomore season, the midfielder/defender competed in 332 minutes in 10 games. For her efforts in the classroom, she earned Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar nods.

The Fenton, Mich., native appeared in all but one match as a junior and scored her first career goal against Dayton. She netted eight shots and was named Academic All-Big Ten.

In 2022, Childers assisted in taking Michigan State to its first Big Ten Tournament title game and first ever NCAA Tournament appearance since 2009. She reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished her senior season with a No. 6 national ranking.

During the same season, Childers helped Michigan State go undefeated in conference play and won the Big Ten regular season. She competed in 12 matches, totaling 249 minutes. Notably, she scored her second career goal against Central Michigan and was a pivotal part in the Spartan's historic win over No. 19 Colorado. Following the season, Childers was recognized to the Academic All-Big Ten Team for the third year in a row.

Ally is the daughter of Cathy and Jeff Childers. She is sister to teammate, Kate Childers. She competed with her older sister Lexi at Michigan State. Her father, Jeff, played baseball with the Spartans.
