MINNEAPOLIS - Former University of Minnesota men's golfer Ben Warian has received a sponsor's exemption to compete in the 2024 CRMC Championship in Brainerd, Minn., the tournament announced Saturday.Â
An annual stop on the PGA Tour Americas schedule, the CRMC Championship will take place August 29-September 1 at Cragun's Legacy Golf Courses.Â
Warian, a native of Stillwater, Minn., graduated from Minnesota after a historic final season in 2023-24. He led the Gophers in scoring average (70.00), rounds under par (8), score to par (-15), and low 18-hole round (63).Â
In his final season with the Maroon and Gold, Warian tallied 11 top-20 finishes, including medalist honors at the High Meadows Intercollegiate, where he set the program's 36-hole scoring record (128), 54-hole scoring record (198) and led the Gophers to their first tournament win since 2022.Â
Since graduating from Minnesota, Warian has collected a win at the Sunnehanna Championship, as well as advanced to the semifinals of the North and South Amateur Championship earlier this summer.
With his exemption into the CRMC Championship, this is now Warian's second sponsor's exemption, with his first coming earlier this year at the 3M Open in Blaine, Minn.Â
Currently, Warian is the 42nd-ranked amateur in the world, according to World Golf Amateur Rankings. Â
