Krings comes to Minneapolis from the University of Missouri
MINNEAPOLIS - Gopher Softball Head Coach Piper Ritter has announced the hiring of Laurin Krings as Director of Player Development. Krings has established herself as a dominant force in college softball, known for her powerful pitching and consistent performances across multiple seasons.
Krings comes to Minnesota after a successful four-year stint playing for the Tigers at the University of Missouri. Once in Dinkytown, Krings will take on key roles including implementing a community service program, conducting in-season coaches meetings to address player development, coordinating player appearances with the community relations department, and regularly checking in on student-athletes' wellness. These responsibilities highlight her leadership both on and off the field.
Krings finished her career with the Tigers ranked in the top 10 for appearances (136, eighth), innings pitched (604.2, ninth), strikeouts (599, sixth) and wins (57, 10th). As a senior, Krings earned recognition to the 2024 NFCA Southeast All-Region Third Team, SEC All-Defensive Team and SEC All-Tournament Team. She finished 2024 with a 17-10 mark, going nine complete games and tossing two shutouts.
As a junior she led the Tigers with a 12-12 record on a 2.75 ERA, notching 10 complete games and four shutouts. After throwing a no-hitter against North Texas, Krings earned Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week and SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week recognition.
During her sophomore season she recorded a 2.78 ERA over 33 appearances with 30 starts. The Loveland, Colo., native threw Mizzou's 12th perfect game in program history featuring 12 strikeouts against Bradley. That same season, she recorded a no-hitter in a win over Bethune Cookman.
Krings was one of Mizzou's primary starters her freshman season with an 11-3 record and a 3.68 ERA over 29 appearances with 13 starts. She led the pitching staff with 122 strikeouts.
One of the most decorated prep pitchers to come out of Colorado, Krings earned Gatorade Player of the Year nods twice. She led Loveland to a 24-4 record and a spot in the 5A quarterfinals as a senior. She struck out 949 batters in her high school career, adding 38 home runs at the plate.
