Three Gophers Named Big Ten Golfers to Watch for 2024-25

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota women's golf team had three student-athletes named Big Ten Conference Golfers to Watch, the league announced Thursday. The announcement of the honorees comes just after the Gophers completed competition at the renowned ANNIKA Intercollegiate.
Fifty-one women's golfers from across the Big Ten were bestowed the preseason honor. The honorees were selected by the head coach of each university in the conference.
The three Gopher nominees are junior Isabella McCauley, sophomore Luisamariana Mesones, and freshman Reese McCauley.
Isabella McCauley has entered her third season with the Gophers with a stellar start. She finished tied for fourth at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate and placed solo third at the Boilermaker Classic a week prior. I. McCauley headlined the Gophers as an individual last season after being crowned Big Ten tri-champion and making her second straight appearance at the NCAA National Championship. As just a junior, I. McCauley holds the lowest career scoring average in team history at 72.44 in 63 rounds played. She also holds the season scoring record of 72.11 in 35 rounds played in the 2023-24 season.
Sophomore Luisamariana Mesones finds her name on the list after taking a season off. During her freshman campaign in 2022-23, Mesones had a standout year. She holds the program's 18-hole (62), 36-hole (130), and 54-hole (203) individual records. Mesones concluded her freshman season at the NCAA Westfield Regional tied for 37th.
Freshman Reese McCauley made her Golden Gopher debut just two weeks ago at the Boilermaker Classic and will seek to make an immediate impact. She was named 2024 Ms. Minnesota Golf following her senior year at Simley High School where she won two individual state championships.
