MINNEAPOLIS - Incoming University of Minnesota women's hockey freshman Chloe Primerano was selected to take part in Canada's National Women's Team September Camp, Hockey Canada announced Tuesday.
Primerano was among 48 players who received an invitation. The six-day camp will run from Sept. 9th to Sept. 15th at Canada Games Park in Thorold, Ontario. Players will be split into Red and White teams for practices, fitness testing, and a pair of intrasquad games on Sept. 12 and Sept. 14.
"This is a tremendous opportunity to evaluate the depth of talent in our player pool and set the tone for the upcoming season," said general manager Gina Kingsbury. "We will also continue to grow and build on our identity as a team as we prepare for the Rivalry Series and ultimately the IIHF Women's World Championship next April in Czechia."
Following September camp, players will prepare for the season with their PWHL and college teams before a roster is named for the first international competition of the season, the 2024-25 Rivalry Series starting Nov. 6 in San Jose, California.
The camp is also a critical step for Canada's National Women's Team in preparation for the 2025 IIHF Women's World Championship on April 9-20 in Czechia. Canada has earned 13 gold medals at the IIHF Women's World Championship (1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2012, 2021, 2022, 2024), in addition to nine silver (2005, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2023) and one bronze (2019).
