Dawson Garcia scored 21 points, and Isaac Asuma and Lu'Cye Patterson each had 15, but Maryland (13-4, 3-3 Big Ten) rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to record a 77-71 win versus Minnesota (8-9, 0-6 B1G) at XFINITY Center.

Garcia made 6-of-13 field goals, including 2-of-3 three-pointers, and was 7-of-9 at the free throw line to reach 20 or more points for the 10th time this season, and his fourth time in Big Ten play. He added seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a blocked shot in 33 minutes. Patterson was 9-of-10 at the line and had five rebounds and three assists, while Asuma reached double figures for the fourth time this season and the second time in the past three games. Femi Odukale had six points and led the team with eight rebounds, as the Gophers finished with a 35-30 edge on the boards. Parker Fox added six points, four rebounds, a team-high four assists, and two blocks, and Mike Mitchell Jr. had six points and three boards.

Maryland was led by 27 points and seven rebounds from Derik Queen, while Rodney Rice had 21 points, and Ja'Kobi Gillespie had 15 points and seven assists. Julian Reese was held to four points, but led the Terps with a game-high eight rebounds.

Garcia got things going for the Gophers with a three-pointer, and a layup by Asuma and a three by Mitchell Jr. had Minnesota up, 8-7. The Terps responded with a 7-0 run to take a six-point lead, but Garcia's second three, a putback by Odukale, and a trey by Asuma put the Gophers back on top, 16-14. Minnesota opened the game by making 6-of-9 from the field, including its first four attempts from three-point range. Asuma's second three-pointer made it an 11-0 run and a 19-14 lead, as the Gophers held Maryland scoreless for four minutes and 11 seconds before Reese scored. Odukale made a jumper in the lane and Patterson hit a pair of free throws for a 23-16 lead, but the Terps answered with a 7-2 run to cut Minnesota's lead to 25-23 and force Ben Johnson to call a timeout with 7:26 left in the half. Garcia scored on a floater in the lane and a pair of free throws to extend the lead to 29-23, and Odukale then added a layup on a great pass from Fox and Patterson hit two foul shots for an 8-2 run and a 33-25 advantage. Maryland fought back with a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 33-32, as the Gophers were scoreless for 3:24 until Garcia scored with 10 seconds left to give Minnesota a 35-32 halftime lead.

Garcia led the Gophers with 12 first-half points, while Asuma had 10 points, and Odukale added six. Garcia and Odukale each had four rebounds, helping the Gophers to a 17-14 rebounding edge. As a team, Minnesota made 12-of-24 field goals, including 5-of-9 (.556) three-pointers, and 6-of-6 free throws. Queen led the Terps with nine points, while Rice and Gillespie each added seven.

The Gophers opened the second half with a three-pointer from Mitchell Jr., who played just seven minutes in the first half after picking up two fouls, and Patterson also connected from deep for a 41-35 lead. A Patterson free throw put the Gophers up by seven, but the Terps responded with a 6-0 run to cut it to 42-41 with 15:34 remaining. Garcia kept Minnesota in the lead with a layup, but Rice hit a three to tie the score. Asuma hit a jumper to make it 46-44, but Maryland scored seven-straight to take its first lead since 14-13. Asuma scored on a layup to cut it to 51-48, but Gillespie's three-point play with 11:11 left put the Terps up by six, 54-48. Garcia pulled Minnesota within two points by going 4-of-4 at the line, and added another FT to make it 56-53, but the Terps extended the lead to 60-53 with 8:57 left. Fox hit a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to 60-55, and Frank Mitchell's putback dunk with 6:09 left kept the Gophers within five at 62-57. But Maryland used a 6-0 run to take its first double-digit lead at 68-57. A Fox layup and two Patterson free throws pulled Minnesota within 68-61, and a Fox dunk made it 70-63 with 1:47 left. Three free throws cut the deficit to 72-66, Patterson hit a three to cut it to 74-69 with 0:12 left, and Garcia scored on a layup with 0:05 left, but free throws by the Terps secured the victory.
