Gophers Ranked No. 24 in AP Poll

Minnesota is ranked in the top 25 for the first time since Dec. 30, 2019

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - For the first time since 2019, Minnesota women's basketball is ranked in the Associated Press Top 25. 

Dawn Plitzuweit's Golden Gophers are ranked No. 24 in the AP poll released on Monday morning. With a 16-1 mark, Minnesota is off to its best 17 game start in program history and has stayed undefeated through 11 games at home for the first time since 2003-04. Additionally, it's the first time Minnesota is 4-1 to start conference play since 2014-15.

The 'U' last appeared in the AP poll on Dec. 30, 2019, the Gophers were ranked No. 24 after 12-straight wins. 

Minnesota earned 45 points in the poll. Five other Big Ten Teams appeared in the rankings including, No. 1 UCLA, No. 4 USC, No. 8 Maryland, No. 9 Ohio State, and No. 22 Michigan State.

Minnesota takes on No. 8 Maryland on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at the XFINITY Center in College Park, Md. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. CT and will be live on Big Ten Network.
