Gopher Softball Freshmen Named to Softball America Freshman Watch List

MINNEAPOLIS - Gopher Softball brought in four Freshmen in their fall of 2024 recruiting class. All four have been named to the Softball America Freshman Watch List. The Gopher Softball Freshmen are Tinley Easton, Natalie Susa, Cameron Chard, and Jae Cosgriff.

Tinley Easton comes to the 'U' by way of Lexington, Kentucky. She competed with the Louisville Sluggers National Team. The infielder was named a Kentucky East-West All Star, a two-time First Team All-District Selection, and was named the Tates Creek HS MaxPreps Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022. She also led her team in homeruns in the 2021 and 2022 seasons which helped her earn the team MVP award and Golden Glove winner.

Natalie Susa arrives at the 'U' from Macedonia, Ohio where she was named the Greater Akron Softball Player of the Year and the Crown Conference MVP in 2022.Susa prepped with the Ohio Outlaw National Team and at Walsh Jesuit High School. She earned First Team All-Conference accolades in 2022 and was a Second Team All-Northeast Ohio honoree in 2021 and 2022.

Cameron Chard chose to stay close to home as the Minnesota native will begin her collegiate softball career with the Gophers this spring. She earned 6 varsity letters with the Softball program and led Belle Plaine HS to the 2023 Conference Championship. Chard was a three-time Minnesota Rivers All-Conference, All-Section, and AA All-State selection. She was also named the Rivers Conference MVP in 2022 and 2023.

Jae Cosgriff will begin her career with the Gophers after a stellar High School career in California. The Livermore, Calif. native was named to the First Team East Bay Athletic League in 2021 and 2023. She was a Second Team selection in 2022 and was named to the First Team All-Bay Area team in 2021. Cosgriff also finished second at the PGF Ultimate Challenge, fifth at the TCS Colorado Supplemental Power Pool, and received a berth to the PGF Premier League. In 2021, she led her team to a third place finish in the PGF Platinum League.

Cosgriff, Chard, Susa, Easton, and the Gopher Softball team get their season underway on Friday, Feb. 7. They will take on Utah as a part of the Kajikawa Classic being played in Tempe, Ariz. The 'U' will take on Utah twice as well as California, Miami (OH), and Arizona State during their time in Arizona.
