Nabwe was named the Big Ten's Co-Field Athlete of the Week.

MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota women's track and field redshirt sophomore Anthonett Nabwe has once again been named the Big Ten's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon. Nabwe has earned the weekly distinction twice this indoor season for her performances in the shot put and weight throw.

Nabwe won the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational shot put and weight throw in Houston last weekend. The Liberian national set an indoor lifetime best and set the No. 4 shot put mark in school history (17.03m | 55-10 1/2) to claim the win. She also won the women's weight throw in Houston with a toss of 20.89m (68-6 1/2) marking the fifth-straight meet, going back to last season, where she finished with a mark of 20 meters or further.

This season Nabwe currently sits at No. 1 in the country in the weight throw (22.45m | 73-8) and No. 7 in the NCAA in the shot put (17.03m | 55-10 1/2). Nabwe is one of two throwers in the country, and the only in the Big Ten, that is ranked inside the top seven nationally in both the shot put and the weight throw.

The Maroon and Gold next compete at the Graduate Classic in Lincoln, Neb., from January 17-18. Minnesota then returns home on January 24-25 for the Jack Johnson Classic.
