Murphy, Primerano Named December WCHA Players of the Month

MINNEAPOLIS - Redshirt-senior forward Abbey Murphy and freshman defender Chloe Primerano have been named WCHA Players of the Month for the month of December, the conference announced Thursday afternoon. They are the first two Gopher student-athletes to earn WCHA Monthly Honors this season.
Murphy earned the fourth WCHA Forward of the Month honor of her career after tallying eight points (3g-5a) in Minnesota's lone series in December. She notched five points (2g-3a) in a 5-0 victory over St. Thomas on Dec. 6, recording a point on each Gopher goal. Murphy then recorded 3 points (1g-2a) in a 6-2 win over the Tommies on Dec. 7. The Evergreen Park, Illinois native led the Gophers in scoring during the month, and was named WCHA Forward of the Week on Dec. 9. She was previously named WCHA Forward of the Week on Nov. 18 and to the Preseason All-WCHA Team prior to the start of the season.
Primerano earned the first WCHA Defender of the Month honor of her career after racking up four points (2g-2a) in the Gophers' December series against St. Thomas. She tallied one goal and one assist in each of Minnesota's victories during the month while recording a plus/minus of 4. The North Vancouver, British Columbia native led Minnesota defenders and ranked second on the team in scoring in December. Primerano earned her first career WCHA Defender of the Week honor on Dec. 9, and was previously named WCHA Preseason Rookie of the Year.
