STARTING FIVE
• The University of Minnesota men's basketball program returns home to face the No. 15 Oregon Ducks on Saturday, Jan. 25. It marks the first meeting between the two teams since 2002 and the first at Williams Arena since 2001. Only eight matchups have been held by the two schools (excluding vacated games), dating back to 1966. The Gophers and Ducks face off as conference foes for the first time in school history. Minnesota's last win against Oregon was a home contest on Dec. 10, 2001, in a 75-72 victory. 
• The Gophers are looking to string three in a row after defeating Iowa on Tuesday night, 72-67 in Iowa City. Dawson Garcia scored 20 points, and Femi Odukale added a season-high 18 points and a team-high eight rebounds as Minnesota (10-9, 2-6 Big Ten) earned its first win at Carver Hawkeye Arena since 2015 and first road win of the year. The Gophers held Iowa to its lowest point total of the season. The Hawkeyes also entered the game having the most three-pointers by a Big Ten school, averaging 11 a game, and were held to just three against Minnesota. The Gophers held the lead for over 36 minutes, as Iowa led for 25 seconds in the game.
• Nine Gophers registered points in the Iowa win Tuesday. Frank Mitchell came off the bench for eight points, including two crucial free throws to ice the win, while snagging six rebounds and two assists. Mike Mitchell Jr. had eight points, while Parker Fox added six, including 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. The Gophers scored 16 bench points in the win and 15 on second-chance attempts.
Dawson Garcia holds a league-best 12 20-point game performances on the season. Garcia has had 16 double-digit point games and even one 30-point game. He also accomplished his fifth double double of the season last vs. Michigan. He's averaging 19.1 points this year, which ranks fourth in the Big Ten. 
GARCIA IN THE RECORDBOOKS    
Dawson Garcia has scored 1,306 points as a Golden Gopher and 1,801 as a collegiate athlete. That number ranks 20th in school history (excluding vacated games). His 27 points at Maryland surpassed him over Blake Hoffarber (1,267 points-played from 2007-11), Dusty Rychart (1,268 points-played from 1998-02) and Arriel McDonald (1,273-1990-94). 
• Garcia has also established 500 Minnesota rebounds, now sitting at 522. With his numbers, he becomes the 22nd Gopher (excluding vacated games) to reach 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in the maroon and gold. 

WHERE THEY RANK    
• Minnesota ranks second in the Big Ten blocks averaging 5.1 and that ranks 26th nationally. They also rank fourth in assist/turnover ratio (1.51). 
Dawson Garcia is fourth in the Big Ten in scoring, averaging 19.1 points per game and also ranks 11th in rebounds per game (7.5). His 363 overall points is third in the Big Ten. Garcia's 12 20-point games is first in the league with Rutger's Dylan Harper  and Northwestern's Brooks Garnhizer with 11. 
• Lu'Cye Patterson ranks 12th nationally and  first in the Big Ten in assist/turnover ratio (3.55). Patterson has 20 turnovers with 71 assists this season. 

SCOUTING OREGON    
• Like Minnesota, the No. 15 Oregon Ducks  (16-3, 5-3 Big Ten) are coming off a win Tuesday night in an 82-71 victory over Washington in Eugene. The Ducks also hold B1G wins over USC, Maryland, Ohio State, and Penn State while dropping contests to UCLA, Illinois, and Purdue.   
• The Ducks are led in scoring by Nate Bittle, who averages 13.6 points and 7.7 rebounds and holds the league's second-best in blocks at 38. Jackson Shelstad averages 12.6 points and a team-best 53 assists, while TJ Bamba averages 10.2 points and a team-best 33 steals. Keeshawn Barthelemy averages 9.7 points and is shooting 43.2 percent from three.   
• As a team, Oregon averages 78.4 points while giving up 69.9. They are shooting 46.5 from the field, including 34.2 from the arc. Defensively, the Ducks average 36.6 rebounds and have 140 steals this season. They also have committed 220 turnovers.   

ON THE DOCKET    
• Minnesota is back on the road Tuesday, Jan. 28 when it faces its second-straight ranked team in No. 8 Michigan State at 7 p.m. The Gophers and Spartans will be shown on Peacock.
