MINNEAPOLIS -Â Gopher Senior Catcher Taylor Krapf has been named to the Softball America Preseason Top 100 list. Krapf came in at No. 81 on the list.Â
Taylor is a Senior Biology major who hails from Oviedo, Fla. In 2024, she received many post season awards such as NFCA Great Lakes All-Region Second Team, All-Big Ten First Team, CSC Third Team Academic All-American, CSC Academic All-District, and Academic All-Big Ten. The Gophers played 53 games during the 2024 campaign and Krapf started all 53 of those games. She finished her Junior season with a .311 batting average, 58 RBI, and 70 runs scored. Taylor also launched 11 home runs, with one of those coming as the walk off three-run bomb to beat Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament last season, and had the second best slugging percentage for Minnesota at .602.
Taylor is looking to continue being a cornerstone of the Gopher Softball team both at the plate and with her defense behind the plate. She is a .326 hitter and has a .985 fielding percentage in her time with the Gophers. She posted career highs in doubles and RBI in 2024 which landed her on the first team All-Big Ten team for the second consecutive year after being named to the first team as a Sophomore.
Taylor and the Gopher Softball team get their season underway on Friday, Feb. 7 as they take on Utah. The game is a part of the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. Minnesota will take on Utah twice as well as California, Miami (OH), and Arizona State during their time in Arizona.Â
