Pair of Gophers Inside Top 10 After Day One of Route 66 Invitational

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- The University of Minnesota women's golf team sits in the middle of the field after two rounds at the Route 66 Invitational Honoring Dale McNamara. The Golden Gophers are in fifth andĀ  posted team scores of 293–293—586 (+18) through 36 holes from Cedar Ridge Country Club.


Senior Isabella McCauley led the Gophers individually, carding rounds of 73 and 70 to sit at +1 (143) and tied for 7th place. Her second-round 70 (-1) featured four birdies.

Junior Mariana Mesones also finished the day tied for 7th, recording back-to-back rounds of 71–72—143 (+1). Mesones' steady play included four birdies in round two.


Notable:
Sophomore Reese McCauley sits tied for 36th at 74–75—149 (+7) after two consistent rounds.


Senior Olivia Deakins sits in 48th place at 75–77—152 (+10). Her opening-round 75 included three birdies for a solid contribution.


Freshman Lauryn Finley is tied for 63rd after posting rounds of 79–76—155 (+13), improving by three strokes between rounds.Ā 


Madison Le (IND) rounds out the Minnesota competitors, tied for 71st after scores of 82–76—158 (+16). Le made notable gains in her second round, improving by six strokes.
