Gophers Host No. 24 Badgers in Saturday Border Battle

The No. 24 Wisconsin Badgers come to town on Saturday
MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota looks ahead to a Border Battle against Big Ten opponent No. 24 Wisconsin on Saturday. The Golden Gophers will host the Badgers at 5 p.m. CT at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.

Scouting the Badgers
Wisconsin is off to an 8-3-1 season and a 2-2-1 mark in conference play. The Badgers have picked up Big Ten wins over No. 8 Penn State and No. 8 Iowa. They also tied No. 22 Ohio State, 0-0. Wisconsin is led offensively by Erin Connolly, who has scored six goals this season. The Badgers' roster features eight others who have scored at least one goal, while Brooke Allen and Anya Gulbrandsen have finished with three.

Juniors Paige Kalal and Kate Childers have made 50 consecutive appearances for the Maroon and Gold since their freshman year. Childers has started all 50 games in her career, while Kalal has started 37, including 33 straight dating back to last season.
Kalal leads Minnesota's roster in goals (4), co-leads in assists (2), points (10) and shots (29). Childers also co-leads in assists (2), ranks third overall in goals (2), third in points (6) and has played every minute of every game this season.

Redshirt sophomore Caroline Birdsell scored her second goal of the season at Nebraska. Birdsell scored 47 seconds into the match, marking the fastest goal by a Gopher since Olivia Schultz, who scored 33 seconds into the game against Stetson on Aug. 22, 2014.
